A groundbreaking conversion
For the first time, a Vespa Smallframe engine is being installed in a PX Largeframe frame: This ambitious project requires weeks of sheet metal and bodywork, as well as the time-consuming manual installation of the exhaust system developed specifically for this engine concept. After well over 200 hours of work, the custom Vespa fulfills all expectations on its very first test ride: With the "small" BFA 288cc engine, the typical right-side bias of Vespa Largeframe models is virtually eliminated – the Vespa 288 Classic Racer, styled after the 1950s, rides as if on rails, even at higher speeds, thanks to the in-house Superlow suspension and extended wheelbase.
