For high-torque engines like the Quattrini 244ccm, we recommend, in addition to a long first and second gear on the main shaft, an extension of the primary gear ratio using the DRT clutch gear with 24 teeth.

Quattrini 244cc engine complete
Ready-to-install, configurable Vespa PX 200 engine with 244cc or 260cc including all necessary attachments, completely machined - optionally with rotary valve or reed valve control and with 60 or 64mm stroke - individually configurable with the selectable options.
Our PX 200 Quattrini engines are of course built exclusively from new parts - the engine modifications as well as the parts and components used are based on our long-established concepts and experience.
The base engines include, among other things, a Malossi V-one or VR-one engine casing , a PX 200 Lusso gearbox with a short 4th gear (Piaggio original parts), a BGM Superstrong CNC clutch, a SIP Performance VAPE ignition with linear ignition timing adjustment, and a Sip long-stroke crankshaft with a 60mm stroke and forged 127mm connecting rod (260cc: King shaft with a 64mm stroke).
In addition, our selection menu offers a wide range of further options and possibilities for customizing the engine to individual preferences and needs - surcharges for certain additional options are indicated in parentheses in the respective selection option.
All reed valve engines come standard with our stainless steel intake manifold, compatible with PWK 28mm carburetors. Rotary valve engines without a selected carburetor are supplied with a modified LML/PX carburetor bowl to fit the intake. All engine configurations are, of course, supplied complete with cylinder head, fan shroud, etc.
For engine tuning on our dynamometer, the configured engine must be complete for commissioning - the configuration must therefore include an exhaust, a carburetor and the carburetor mounting kit.
Vespa Tuning Quattrini 244-260ccm - Concept
The Quattrini cylinders for Vespa PX 200 engines are characterized by immense torque potential and smooth running due to their large displacement and the corresponding design of the ports. Through appropriate design of the valve timing and cross-sections, and the use of our Vespa racing exhaust M244, specially developed for the Quattrini configuration, complete engines are created in our Vespa workshop that, despite a peak output of up to 32 hp and torque values of over 30 Nm, operate across an exceptionally broad powerband and possess excellent touring qualities.
In road use, our M244 exhaust system in S PLUS version perfectly supports this characteristic: The noise reduction system we developed promotes the development of torque from low engine speeds, and the noise level remains extremely civil, even with diaphragm-controlled engines.
Quattrini 244-260cc engine - gearbox
Our PX 200 engines are equipped in the basic version with original PX 200 Lusso gearboxes using a short 4th gear - due to the high torque and ultra-wideband performance, a longer gearbox ratio is recommended for all Quattrini engines: In addition to a long primary gear ratio with 24/64 teeth (PX 200 original: 23/65), the longer gear ratios 1 and 2 from the manufacturer DRT greatly improve rideability and give the Quattrini engine an almost unspectacular character.
